  6. When I attempt to install Sophos it aborts with a message: "Cancelled Sophos installation because of the existing third party security software could not be uninstalled". What do I do?

The Sophos third party anti-virus software removal utility used to remove other anti-virus software applications prior to installing Sophos is detecting another antivirus that it is unable to remove. Your can find out the particular product that it is detecting by examining a file called avremove.log in the %temp% directory on the client computer. Remove the software manually using the add/remove software control panel in Start/Settings/Control Panel and selecting the application from the list and clicking on the Remove button. If the indicated anti-virus application is not listed then it probably was previously partially removed. You can reference Sophos Knowledgebase article ID 35340 and 38139 for further information on third party removal problems.
